About the Role

As a member of the Group's management team, the Finance Manager will have responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations of the finance function. 

The successful candidate will ensure that the finance team complies with the firm's policies and procedures, assists in identifying best practices, and enhance the level of service provided by the finance team to partners, lawyers, staff, and other support teams.

Primary responsibilities of the role include:

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the finance function including (but not limited to) accounts payable, general ledger/ transaction posting, management accounting, reporting and analysis, bank reconciliations, and budgeting
  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of the trial balance, including maintaining balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
  • Ensure internal controls are sufficient, including appropriate segregation of duties within the accounts function
  • Training and performance management for all team members
  • Monitor cash balances to ensure adequate funds are available to settle the firm's debts as they come due
  • Ensure intercompany balances are paid promptly, where possible
  • Prepare and report management accounts to the Financial Controller on a timely basis each month
  • Monitor the firm's costs and identify opportunities for cost savings
  • Assist the Financial Controller in preparing the group budget in accordance with the timetable
  • Support the Financial Controller in forecasting future financial performance
  • Support the firm's internal and external audits to ensure they are completed in a timely manner, minimizing management points, and ensuring GAAP compliance
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and variance analysis
  • Provide assistance on ad-hoc group projects

EXPERIENCE

What You Bring

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

  • An accountancy qualification with a minimum 7 years PQE and a recognized certification (CPA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA or ACCA)
  • A strong technical background, including expertise in management accounting, project management, and the implementation of staff training and career development initiatives
  • A proven track record in supervising and mentoring teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure
