About the Role

This Senior Business Development Executive role works within the global law firm's Business Development & Marketing team to provide comprehensive practice group support in the Cayman Islands. 

 

The Business Development & Marketing team brings together practice group expertise to maintain, grow and support client relationships and law firm referral relationships.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Support the development and implementation of practice group BD & Marketing plans and budgets
  • Work with the partners and global BD & Marketing team to translate practice group goals into specific BD and marketing activities
  • Support the identification and pursuit of opportunities to develop new and existing clients as well as proactively seeking out ways to upsell and cross sell into the wider Maples Group business
  • Support on the assessment and development of opportunities to strengthen co-operation across the practice group(s) for business development purposes and co-ordinate with the international BD team involved in implementing related activities globally
  • Support on the analysis and identification of market, client and competitor developments and follow through with new business opportunities
  • Work with the global and regional communications team to develop engaging content for marketing campaigns, collateral, digital and other marketing tactics
  • Support on BD trips, ensuring that the purpose and objectives of those trips are scoped and agreed, the team is fully briefed and follow-up actions are captured in CRM and implemented
  • Support the planning, organisation, and delivery of conferences, seminars, and other firm-hosted events
  • CRM database management including monitoring and maintaining client and target lists
  • Work with the Events team to oversee and execute on practice group events, client entertainment and conferences
  • Work with partners, as required, to pitch for new business opportunities, draft or co-ordinate the writing of pitch documents and credential statements
  • Support the preparation of regular budget reconciliations for practice group(s)
  • Co-ordinate legal directory submissions with the lawyers and help the partners prepare for interviews with legal directory researchers
  • Engage in all relevant internal business development meetings and provide appropriate support, including market research, targeting activities and post-event reporting
  • Proactively encourage and manage lawyer involvement in business development and marketing activities by clearly communicating the value and rationale of proposed strategies and initiatives
  • Support on ad hoc strategic projects outside of the day-to-day responsibilities that benefit the wider function and firm

 

EXPERIENCE

 

What You Bring

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

 

  • Law firm experience, as well as a professional qualification in Marketing, Business or a related field is preferred
  • Over five years' experience in a marketing and/or business development role in professional services with knowledge of the finance/legal industry
  • Ability to work to deadlines, manage competing demands and deliver under pressure
  • Strong relationship management skills and the ability to understand and respond to the needs of internal stakeholders
  • A team player with the ability to build relationships within the BD & Marketing team locally and globally
  • The ability to build networks with partners and staff at all levels across the organisation and influence effectively
  • Strong event management and sponsorship activation experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong project, organisational, time management and administrative skills
  • Experience with InterAction or similar CRM systems; with experience in maximising the data value, as well as being highly proficient in MS applications including Work, Excel and PowerPoint
