The Opportunity / Who We Seek

We are looking for an accomplished Assistant Vice President (CPO) to join our Funds Fiduciary team as part of our financial services business in the Cayman Islands.

 

The Cayman Islands is home to our global headquarters and where the Maples Group first established operations in the 1960s. Since then we have grown to become one of the largest employers in Cayman, where colleagues from all over the world collaborate to deliver best-in-class solutions to clients worldwide. As part of our Cayman team you will:

 

  • Complete the reconciliation of investment portfolios, review of complex net asset valuations, investor statements, annual financial statements and creating reports for certain regulatory compliance and filing requirements for a portfolio of various types of investment funds/commodity pools.
  • Involvement in all client and internal related administrative functions such as:
  • processing new business enquiries,
  • completing client acceptance procedures,
  • reviewing client transaction documents & marketing materials,
  • setting up and maintenance of data in client databases and billing,
  • assisting with developing/updating NFA/CFTC related policies and procedures and related processes.
  • Liaising with fund administrators, platform managers, lawyers, investment managers, prime brokers, directors and other transaction counterparties in various jurisdictions.
  • This person will deliver a high level of client service, ensuring that each relationship is compliant with internal policies and procedures.

 

What You Bring 

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following: 

 

  • hold a bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting and/or a related field, and/or a professional accounting designation.
  • In addition, the candidate will hold, or successfully obtain within 2-3 months, FINRA Series 3 qualification (on-the-job support will be provided for this).
  • A minimum of at least 3 years’ experience in a fund accounting type role preparing complex NAV calculations is also required.

 

Key Skills for this role:

 

  • a solid understanding of NAV calculations, investment securities including derivatives,
  • intermediate Excel skills,
  • knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, corporate administration and relevant CFTC/NFA rules and regulations.
  • He / she will also have excellent communication skills coupled with strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and an analytical approach to issue resolution.
  • The successful applicant will be well organized, have the ability to use initiative and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and communication skills, both verbal and written (fluent written and oral English) 
  • Frequent overtime at short notice, including weekends or holidays, will be required.
